About the Company & Team

We are a growing, global community of over 1,000 engineers with offices across 10+ countries, delivering impactful software solutions for established European enterprises and innovative U.S. startups. This role supports a Fintech Product. You will be part of a Technical Analyst & Modeler chapter consisting of 20 members organized into 7 squads, working collaboratively with business analysts, DWH developers, QA engineers, and DevOps engineers.

Mission

The Data Modeler will act as the crucial liaison between business analysts and the development team. You will drive, define, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models, while supporting the definition of business terms within the Glossary Hierarchy. Key responsibilities include identifying the golden source for business terms, creating source-to-target mappings, collaborating with developers on implementation options, and presenting the final solutions for review and acceptance to both the business and technical teams.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Refine requirements based on input from business representatives and translate them into business terms and conceptual models.

  • Deliver data requirements, business terms definitions, conceptual/logical/physical Data Models, and documentation for deployment to Data Lakes according to agreed quality criteria.

  • Create source-to-requirements mappings for business terms and source-to-target mappings for logical and physical models.

  • Set up and maintain ways of working, design principles, standards, and guidelines for local group Data Lake components.

  • Promote the usage of data models throughout the organization (beyond just DWH).

  • Provide ongoing support to the Dev Team during development and collaborate with programmers, testers, and business users.

  • Accurately articulate issues, recommendations, and proactively identify concerns to team members and management.

  • Provide training, documentation, and support for business users.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Education: University degree in Computer Science or a related field (equivalent experience will also be considered).

  • Experience: 3+ years of proven experience acting as a Data Modeler within a Data Warehouse or reporting environment.

  • Technical Concepts: Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, ETL, database design, and business intelligence processes.

  • Modeling & Tools: Experience with data modelling tools and methods, specifically IBM’s BDW models and the IBM InfoSphere suite (Information Governance Catalog, Data Architect).

  • Databases: Advanced proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL and strong overall knowledge of SQL.

  • Industry & Domain: Knowledge of Data Products / Data mesh implementation, as well as banking processes and products (customers, transactions, cards & terminals, finance, risk, investments).

  • Language: Good level of English.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical: Strong problem analysis and judgment to evaluate the impact of architectural decisions, risks, and updates on the organization.

  • Autonomous: Capable of independently executing tasks, preparing advice, and making implementation decisions.

  • Persistent: Able to navigate conflicts of interest to achieve an acceptable end solution.

  • Communicative: Persuasive and able to document and explain technical decisions comprehensively to non-IT colleagues.

  • Detail-Oriented: Experienced in understanding business terms and the precise definitions and meanings of words.

Considered a Plus

  • Experience working within Agile methodologies.

  • Knowledge of financial institutions’ business areas and data management organizations.

  • Previous background as a Senior DWH Developer, Solution Designer, or Data Architect.

  • Hands-on experience with Public cloud solutions.
